Southern Kings Record Stunning Bonus-Point Win Over Glasgow

Southern Kings 38 Glasgow 28

There was a major shock in the Pro14 this afternoon as Southern Kings, who are lying at the bottom of Conference B, earned a bonus point win against Glasgow Warriors in Port Elizabeth.

Three opening first-half tries from Martin du Toit and a brace from Yaw Penxe saw Kings race into the lead with Masixole Banda nailing the conversion on every attempt.

The full-back scored a drop goal on the stroke of half-time to lead 24-0 at the break.

Kings were first on the scoreboard in the second half through a Harlen Klaason try but discipline let them down and Henry Brown received a yellow for a deliberate knock down. During his ten minutes in the bin, Glasgow struck twice.

Nick Gregg crossed the try line before DTH Van Der Merwe touched down in the corner. Adam Hastings scored added the extras on both occasions to leave the gap at 16 points with 15 minutes to go.

Just as Glasgow looked to be staging the ultimate comeback, Kings extended their lead. The hosts kept pressing in their opponents 22 and eventually, du Toit crossed for his second of the day and once again, Banda was accurate with the conversion.

Fraser Brown did pull a try back for the visitors with Hastings again adding the extras.

Godlen Masimla was sent to the bin as Van Der Merwe completed his brace of tries on the 80-minute mark to ensure a bonus point but there was nothing more they could do to reduce the gap. Glasgow leave Port Elizabeth with one point as Kings record their first victory of the competition.
