Former Connacht Hooker Reynecke Out Of Intensive Care Following Stroke

Former Connacht player, Ethienne Reynecke has left the intensive care unit but remains heavily sedated after suffering a stroke last week.

The 36-year-old was left in a critical condition after developing a blood clot on the brain with doctors unable to operate due to the swelling.

Media outlet, Sport24 are reporting that the SuperSport commentator has been moved to a neurology ward at a Johannesburg hospital where he remains sedated.

Reynecke enjoyed a two year spell at Connacht before returning to South Africa to join the Cheetahs in 2013.

Following his retirement Reynecke, who also had spells with Saracens and Pau, turned his attention to MMA before venturing into the commentating world.
