Positive News For Chris Cloete As Munster Issue Injury Update

Munster have issued a positive update on the fitness of Chris Cloete as the province prepare for a crucial Heineken Champions Cup meeting with Saracens in Allianz Park on Saturday.

The South African hasn’t featured for Munster since early October when he suffered an ankle injury during the side’s 31-20 win over Southern Kings in the PRO14.

However, in their latest squad update, the province have confirmed that Cloete has returned to team training.

Meanwhile, Rhys Marshall is in rehabilitation with Munster’s medical department after undergoing a surgical procedure on his knee last week.

Fly-half Joey Carbery continues his recovery from an ankle injury and could return in time for Munster’s sold-out interprovincial derby against Leinster in Thomond Park later this month.

Jeremy Loughman (ankle), Tyler Bleyendaal (neck), Dave Kilcoyne (calf), Ciaran Parker (calf) and Darren Sweetnam (hamstring) are all continuing their rehabilitation.

Munster currently lie in second place of Pool 4 in the Heineken Champions Cup, just one point behind Racing 92. Johann van Graan’s men recorded a 10-3 win over reigning champions Saracens in Limerick on Saturday, though the Premiership side were without many of their World Cup contingent.

The province now travel to London for the reverse fixture on Saturday when Saracens’ rested players, including Billy Vunipola, Elliot Daly and Owen Farrell, are expected to return. Kick-off in Allianz Park is 3pm and the game will be shown live on BT Sport.
