New Zealand have overcome Argentina by a score of 39-22 in New Plymouth, largely thanks to a stunning try from flanker Vaea Fifita.
All was not plain sailing for the All Blacks on Saturday as Argentina led 22-15 with half an hour remaining, but then up stepped Fifita on his first start with a stunning individual effort, which was then converted by Lima Sapoaga to level the game before Damian McKenzie and Beauden Barrett made sure of the result.
The Hurricanes man received the ball after a kick was excellently blocked down by Dane Coles. Fifita then ran from 40 metres before producing incredible speed and holding off multiple challenges to touch down for a pivotal try.
To do that in just his second cap for the All Blacks is a sign of something special and Steve Hansen will be absolutely delighted with his performance.
At 25, it certainly won’t be the last we see of the big man in a New Zealand shirt. He will also provide stern competition for Jerome Kaino.
Take a look at Fifita’s amazing try below.
The All-Blacks still sit top of the Rugby Championship following this result with Australia and South Africa currently facing off.
