Wales Fans Outraged By Referee’s Performance As Ireland Confirm Championship Credentials

Ireland are well on track to Six Nations glory following a thrilling 37-27 win against Wales in Dublin, but one talking point has emerged which is dominating the thoughts of supporters – the performance of referee Glen Jackson.

Two tries from Jacob Stockdale and Bundee Aki, Dan Leavy and Cian Healy as well as improved second-half kicking performance from Jonathan Sexton were enough to see Ireland over the line to a huge psychological victory, but according to some, the help of a 16th man went a long way in dictating the result.

Welsh supporters were less than impressed with the performance of the New Zealander, citing a reluctancy to penalise Irish players for the same things he awarded them penalties, and pointing to instances of ignorance, off the ground incidents and slow release of the ball as sticking points.

While the win for Ireland will be huge in their quest towards the title, it means Wales’ hopes are over after two defeats from their opening three matches.

Many Welsh fans will point to Jackson as the reasoning behind that situation, but for Ireland it doesn’t matter how you win as long as you do.
