No Irish player has been chosen in the British and Irish Lions team set to face the Emirates Lions on Saturday.

Head coach Warren Gatland has made 14 changes to the team which defeated Japan last weekend and there will be Irish representation on the bench with Iain Henderson and Bundee Aki set to be held in reserve.

The game is scheduled for Saturday at 5pm with Sky Sports set to show the match live.

The three-match series against South Africa begins on July 24 and will be spread across three consecutive weekends, finishing on August 7. The Springboks emerged victorious when the sides met on the 2009 tour.

South Africa won the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

South Africa are the reigning world champions, having defeated England in the 2019 World Cup final and there have been six English players named to start in Saturday’s match.

The Lions opened their campaign with a comfortable 28-10 victory over Japan last weekend, though the game was overshadowed by the serious injury picked up by Wales international Alun Wyn Jones which has ruled him out of the entire series.
