The French chapter of Simon Zebo’s career has gotten off to a terrific start.
The Irishman has put away tries against the likes of Toulouse, Clermont, and Agen so far, but he was able to go one better in Racing 92’s win over Castres on Saturday.
Racing prevailed at the Paris La Défense Arena by a scoreline of 27-11, enabled by two tries from their new winger.
An early Virimi Vakatawa try got them underway, before Zebo’s double.
His first came in the 19th minute, running over and finishing off a pass from the Racing no. 10.
Paea Fa’anunu scored for Castres to claw back what was a 14 point deficit at half time, but Zebo guaranteed the points ten minutes from time.
His run was timed superbly, and with that momentum in place once he received the ball, there was no stopping his fifth try of the season.
Racing are fourth in the Top 14 table, with 14 points after five games, three of which they have won.
Next up is a visit to Stade Jean-Bouin to take on second-placed Stade Francais next Sunday.
