Joe Schmidt Takes Home World Rugby Coach Of The Year Award

Ireland coach Joe Schmidt topped off a fantastic year by taking home the World Rugby Coach Of The Year award while Ireland themselves won the World Rugby Team Of The Year at today’s ceremony.

While not much is certain about the future of the Ireland head-coach, his efforts over the last 365 day period have not gone unnoticed during tonight’s World Rugby Awards as he beat out some stiff competition to win the top coaching award on offer.

Schmidt wasn’t present to accept the award but Peter O’Mahony was on-hand to do so.

Ireland’s year was topped off with a soon-to-be-legendary win over New Zealand in Dublin and while there is widespread confusion over what happens next, the year is certainly ending on a positive note.

Ireland took home the World Rugby Team Of The Year award, a fitting prize for a year as consistently strong as their’s was.
