Joe Schmidt has named his Ireland squad for the opening two round of this year’s Six Nations championships with three uncapped players among the 38-man squad.
Connacht trio Caolin Blade, Jack Carty & Tom Farrell have all been named in Joe Schmidt’s squads after impressing hugely over the Christmas period.
It was expected that Blade would be included in the squad following injuries to Kieran Marmion and Luke McGrath. Whilst Jack Carty has been selected presumably as a third choice out-half instead of Ross Byrne.
Centre, Tom Farrell has been included after starring for Connacht all season.
In other news, Sean O’Brien and Robbie Henshaw have returned to the Irish fold following injuries picked up in the November test series.
Ireland’s first matchup will see them welcome England to the Aviva Stadium on February 2 for a tie that should be a memorable way to kick things off.
