Brian O’Driscoll paid tribute to Leinster’s retiring captain Isa Nacewa today ahead of the New Zealand man’s last outing in the Pro14 final against Scarlets.
A true great of the modern game will hang up his boots for good after today’s Guinness Pro14 final between Leinster and Scarlets in the Aviva Stadium and there has been a well-deserved outpouring of tributes made as his final outing approaches.
Isa Nacewa will call time on his ten-year association with Leinster today and while his focus will no doubt be fixed on helping his side come away with the win, there has been a real bittersweet feeling amongst those who have watched his career so far.
Brian O’Driscoll took to his own official Instagram page to commend his former-teammate on what has been a truly stunning career to date and his praise for the four-time Champions Cup winner was plentiful.
Whether he can top things off with what would be his third Pro14 title win will be decided today at 6pm.
As this guy plays his final game for Leinster today I just want to say what an unbelievable privilege it was to share the field with him. Undoubtedly one of the smartest if not the smartest rugby player I ever played with. On the few occasions when I thought I was at his level of rugby intellect it felt pretty good. By a county mile Ireland’s greatest foreign import with all the success Leinster have had since his joining the club in ‘09. Go well in retirement but one last trophy first. #ISAISAISA #coybib? #isanacewa
