The US Masters is upon us and ahead of the most famous event on the PGA calendar, players and fans get to enjoy the course by way of the annual Par 3 contest.
Tom Watson took the honours this year, making him the oldest ever winner of the event, but his achievement was somewhat overshadowed by a pair of holes-in-one that took place during the course of the day.
The first was one of those real feel-good moments as the grandson of the legend that is Jack Nicklaus, Gary Nicklaus, who was on the bag for his famous grandfather, stepped in to take on one of the course’s famous par 3 holes.
Striking it sweetly, the ball dropped beyond the pin, where it then trickled down the gentle slope and dropped neatly into the cup. Queue much celebrating.

Even this effort managed to be overshadowed, however, as elsewhere on the course, America’s Tony Finau was to grab his own hole-in-one out on the course.
In front of a big crown lining either side of the tee box and fairway, Finau’s tee shot on the seventh hole dropped neatly onto the green before the ball’s backspin propelled it back towards the pin, where it dropped firmly in for his ace.
In the light-hearted and jovial atmosphere of the contest, the American ran off towards the hole, turning to acknowledge the roaring crowd.
As he ran backwards, however, disaster struck and he did this.

Yes, you saw that correctly. Finau did indeed push his ankle back into place before gingerly hobbling back towards his caddie.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, an X-ray of Finau’s left ankle showed no break and an MRI on Thursday will be carried out to determine the severity of the damage.
Based on the results of the scan will then determine whether the 28-year-old will make it to the first tee of his debut Masters.
