Watch: Ruby Walsh Given Two-Day Suspension For Excessive Use Of Whip

Ruby Walsh

Ruby Walsh has received a two-day suspension, but it won’t be served until later this month…

The first day of the Cheltenham festival is chalked down, and with three cards to go in the biggest week of the national hunt season, there’s still a feast in store for racing fans.

The opening day of the festival didn’t disappoint, and the return of Ruby Walsh was a welcome sight as he rode Footpad to victory in the Arkle. He also finished first with Benie Des Dieux in the Mares’ Hurdle.

However, there was a degree of controversy surrounding the win, as Walsh was deemed to have over-used the whip.

However, it must be noted that the jockey will not serve the ban until later this month, and is free to ride this week. Walsh will be riding Douvan in tomorrow’s feature race, the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
