Michael Van Gerwen Dominated Last Night And His Opponent’s Tweet Sums It Up

Michael Van Gerwen is hot on the heels of a third PDC World Championship title, and it would take a brave man to bet against him considering his scintillating form.

The Dutchman is a hot favourite to defend his crown, and came up against 32nd seed James Wilson in the second round last night. However, the Englishman was no match for the world no.1, who won 12 legs on the bounce to win through 4-0.

MVG now faces Gerwyn Price in the third round. The Welshman picked up his first win at the Ally Pally last week, and certainly has put in performances this year to suggest he is capable of the upset. However, over the longer format the ex-rugby player may be up against it.

Just ask MVG’s opponents so far this tournament.

After being annihilated on the oche last night, James Wilson took to Twitter and he was flabbergasted.

Ouch indeed…

Many are talking up a potential meeting of MVG and countryman Raymond Van Barneveld in the quarter-final, should both win through. Barney shocked Van Gerwen two years ago in the third round, and will have no fear should they meet again.

Nonetheless, MVG’s average of over 108 last night ensures that he’ll take some stopping…
