David Haye Announces Rio Medalist Joe Joyce And MMA Star Michael Page Have Signed With His Promotional Company

At a press conference in London today, David Haye made a number of big announcements, not only pertaining to his own in-ring career but also regarding the future of his promotional company, Hayemaker Ringstar.

Haye, who ruptured his achilles tendon during his fight with bitter rival Tony Bellew at the O2 Arena back in March and was subsequently stopped by the Liverpudlian in the 11th round, announced that he plans to return to competition late this year.

“I will be back in the ring in December, who that will be against, I don’t know,” said the heavyweight star.

Though we don’t yet know who he will be fighting, we do know by whom the bout will be broadcast, as the boxer also revealed that Hayemaker Ringstar have reached a three-year deal with UK TV that will see five boxing cards a year broadcast on DAVE, the channel which aired the first two fights of Haye’s comeback in 2016.

Haye struggles to climb from the floor during his bout with Tony Bellew in March.

With the responsibility to fill this demanding schedule falling on them, Haye and business partner Richard Schaefer have made a number of new signings. At the presser today, they unveiled Team GB’s Rio Olympic super-heavyweight silver medalist Joe Joyce, another Rio Olympian Qais Ashfaq and standout amateur Willy Hutchinson as Hayemaker Ringstar fighters. And, as if we needed another boxing/MMA crossover story today of all days, Haye also announced the signing of British Bellator MMA star Michael Page, who Bellator president Scott Coker recently revealed would be giving boxing a shot with the promotion’s approval.

“I have personally enjoyed huge success with UK TV, smashing viewer records on previous live broadcasts,” said Haye. “As a result, I am thrilled to announce a long-term partnership to introduce the next generation of boxing stars to their audience.”

“An incredible 40 million people tune into UK TV’s programme offering every month which without question provides the Hayemaker Ringstar stable with an incredibly strong platform for a rapidly growing fan base(via Eurosport).”

As of yet, no date has been announced for Hayemaker Ringstar’s debut card on DAVE.
