Wednesday night’s games consisted of the following: Crusaders (Nathan Dodds) versus Hibernian (Graham McIntyre) and Crusaders versus Linfield (Nathan Moore)

Crusaders took on Hibs in the first game of the night

In what turned out to be an exciting affair, there was glimpses of class from both sides. Hibs grabbed this game by the throat and won all the key battles on the pitch.

They turned their chances into goals when it mattered and won this game on a convincing 3-0 scoreline.

The second leg of the night saw France (Nathan) take on Brazil (Graham)

A common fixture in this tournament turned into a feisty affair, as both teams looked to get settled into the game with that elusive opening goal. It was Brazil who scored first, as Neymar took advantage of some loose defending from the French.

France came right back into the game as they scored two goals after some huge pressure down the flanks. The likes of Antoine Griezmann showed his class in scoring and the French defence stayed solid to secure a 2-1 win.

The last leg of this fixture featured Real Madrid (Graham) versus Bayern Munich (Graham)

A huge European clash was in store, and it was the German giants who took the lead in a goalfest. The Spanish side scored to make things level before Bayern netted their second. A bonkers ten minutes saw both sides score in a fast-paced frenzy.

It had a draw written all over it but somehow Luka Modric managed to work his magic and scored a spectacular third goal, which meant the men in white were to be victorious.

The second fixture of the night was Crusaders versus Linfield

Linfield were ruthless in this game as they scored two goals from two chances in a period of about 15 minutes. They displayed league-winning quality in this period but it was yet to be seen if they could consistently perform to these standards. They began to become a bit too comfortable in defence and conceded a goal just before the half ended.

All seemed okay until a second was conceded. It now became a tight contest and Linfield were stuck in a huge tug of war for possession. It seemed there was a Linfield meltdown and a Crusaders revival as a third goal crept into the back of the net. The match eventually ended 3-2.

The second leg was a repeat of France (Nathan Moore) versus Brazil (Nathan Dodds)

It proved to be a masterclass from Brazil, although the scoreline didn’t suggest their clear dominance. In a game that ended 2-1 Brazil, France tried their best to kickstart some form of momentum but they were unlucky that they came up against a Brazilian side that were simply unbeatable on the day.

The man that was the difference between both teams was, you guessed it, Neymar. His runs off the ball and leadership were simply outstanding.

The final game of the night saw Bayern Munich (Nathan Moore) go up against Real Madrid (Nathan Dodds)

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale decided this tie. Early goals looked to have set the game alight but it was to be the exact opposite. The standard didn’t drop but neither team brought much to the table in attack and the defences were on top.

The goalkeepers deserve credit as they earned their wages during a busy night. The match ended 2-1, a fair reflection on the game.
