Jason Smyth is the 100m World Champion for the eighth time in his illustrious career after a scintillating run at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai.
Smyth broke his own record, set in 2013, with a time of 10.54 seconds as he completely blitzed his way through the competition in today’s final.
The 32-year-old adds an eighth gold medal at the World Championships to go alongside his five Paralympic gold medals.

It was Australian Chad Perris who started the race brightly, heading into an early lead, however, it was only a matter of time before the Paralympic legend took over leaving no doubt as to who was going to take the spoils with still a few seconds to spare.
Perris finished second while Namibia’s Johannes Nambala finished third on the day.
