Wow… what a day for Irish cricket.
The Ireland cricket team made the short trip across the pond for this morning’s Test match clash with England at the home of cricket, Lords. The scene where Dubliner, Eoin Morgan, captained England to a first-ever World Cup title a little over a week ago.
Given the stature of the two competing nations, it was expected to be a comfortable day for the English against a minnow Irish side.
However, the Irish have completely torn up the script on the opening morning of their Test match bowling England out for just 85 runs.
History was also made at the home of cricket as Tim Murtagh completed Ireland’s first-ever men’s Test match five-wicket haul.

Murtagh may have got the ball rolling for the Irish bowlers but his replacement, Boyd Rankin, picked up where he left off with two quick bowls before wrapping up a miserable morning for England to leave the Irish in dreamland.
There’s plenty more cricket to be played but what a start for Ireland.
