Oliver Dingley has finished in fifth place in the 1m diving event in Edinburgh with a total score of 385.65, six points from a bronze medal. It is his highest ever placing at a major tournament.
It was a solid showing from the 25-year-old who finished in 11th place in his heat this morning.
The event was won by Jack Laugher of Great Britain with a score of 414.60. Laugher is from Harrogate in Yorkshire, the same town that Dingley are up in.
Dingley’s best dive came in the fifth round when he scored 70.95 which was a huge contrast to his score of 40.50 in his second-last dive this morning and it left him less than one point away from a bronze medal.
However a poor entry on his final dive left him with a lower score of 62.50 and he eventually finished in fifth place.
Dingley will compete in the 3m event on Thursday.
