Breaking: Olympic Hero Rob Heffernan Announces His Retirement

After a career that has spanned almost three decades, five-time Olympian Rob Heffernan has announced his retirement. 

In his decorated career, the 40-year-old has won a World title in Moscow in 2013, a bronze medal in the European Championships in 2010 and most notably, a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2o12.

Heffernan will take up a new position with Bank of Ireland as Retail Banking Ambassador in the Munster Region.

His wife Marian was also part of Team Ireland at the London Olympics, competing in the Women’s 4x40o metre relay.
