Following rumours of a potential re-match with Wladamir Klitschko before he announced his retirement, AJ’s latest battle has now been finalised with the fight set to take place at the Principality Stadium in front of close to 80,000 people.
Pulev will be no easy opponent for Joshua as the big Bulgarian holds an impressive record of only ever being defeated once, to Klitscho back in 2014. The Cobra goes in as the number one challenger for AJ’s IBF belt.
The British boxer is yet to lose any professional bout, with a record of 19 wins and 19 knockouts. Pulev could, however, prove to be a challenge as many of his battles have gone the distance, none of which have resulted in defeat.
The encounter is sure to draw in thousands of boxing fans in another major pay-per-view event, with Joshua also declaring that in future he would like to face the winner of Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Pulev was full of praise for Joshua ahead of their clash on October 28.
“Anthony is a formidable opponent. We will not hug and hold, we will not run; we will stand and fight. His style fits mine perfectly and in boxing, styles make fights.”
There is also good news for Irish fans as Katie Taylor could potentially be part of the undercard. The Bray native was part of the undercard for the Joshua-Klitscho encounter, and with many calling for her to be granted a shot at a world title October 28 could very well represent the perfect opportunity.
It is sure to be a night of top class boxing as Joshua looks to further cement his status as one of the world’s best.
