Paul and Gary O’Donovan managed to earn a silver medal in today’s European Championship finals.
In today’s lightweight men’s double sculls, the iconic duo from Skibbereen put in a valiant showing but lost out on the top spot.
It was the Norweigans who came out ahead by a sizeable margin to upset the Irish, putting in a strong showing and opening up a lead early.
The Irish had to fight off a spirited effort from the third-placed Italians to bring home silver and in the end, they will surely be pleased with their efforts.
Of course, there was a lot of expectation going into this one – a testament to the undeniable talent of the O’Donovans – but with a second-placed finish, they can bring medals back to their home-country after what was another entertaining event in Glasgow.
