Marco Cecchinato Shocks Novak Djovokic To Reach French Open Semi’s

The 72nd ranked player in the world Marco Cecchinato became the first Italian man in 40 years to reach a Grand Slam semi-final, defeating Novak Djovokic.

Oh, what a shock this was.

The legendary 12-time major winner Novak Djovokic came up short in what amounted to an epic showdown with the relative unknown Marco Cecchinato in today’s French Open quarter-final matchup.

Cecchinato, who came into the game as the world’s 72nd ranked player, wasn’t expected to have much success against the Serbian but managed to come out on top of a 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), 1-6, 7-6 (13/11) game, becoming the first Italian in four decades to reach the semi-final of a Grand Slam tournament.

What an upset!
