Watch: UFC Prospect Hits Sensational ‘Showtime Kick’, Scores Finish, Calls Out Artem Lobov

After taking a break and clearing a path for the Mayweather vs. McGregor tornado to pass through, the UFC returned on Saturday night with a Fight Night card at the Ahoy Rotterdam in, you guessed it, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The card wasn’t exactly star-studded, but it delivered some quality action.

There was a sensational one-punch knockout on the prelims, courtesy of Russian powerhouse Mairbek Taisumov, a wildly entertaining fight between Marion Reneau and Talita Bernardo, and a heavyweight slugfest between towering behemoths Stefan Struve and Alexander Volkov in the headliner.

There was also a goddamn ‘Showtime kick’ from Russian featherweight prospect Zabit Magomedsharipov.

The former ACB featherweight champion made his UFC debut a very memorable one indeed, not only landing the rare and sensational strike, but also finishing Mike Santiago via rear-naked choke in the second round.

It was Magomedsharipov’s ninth straight victory and his thirteenth overall. The 26-year-old has only one defeat on his ledger and that came all the way back in April of 2013 when he was submitted by Igor Egorov.

After delivering an eye-catching performance, Magomedsharipov followed up with an attention-grabbing post-fight interview, as he called out countryman Artem Lobov.

Lobov, who seems to be the apple of every featherweight prospect’s eye these days, is already booked for a fight with Andre Fili next month, but the game SBG Ireland fighter was predictably enthusiastic about the idea of facing Magomedsharipov.

Responding to the call out on Twitter, Lobov told the promotional newcomer to stay ready in case Fili is forced to withdraw, before adding that he is more than willing to perform a quick turnaround after the Fili fight and take on Magomedsharipov in November.
