Ronda Rousey will square off with Amanda Nunes on 30th December in her first bout since her loss to Holly Holm.
It is time to get excited. “Rowdy” is back, and is looking in shape for her return to the Octagon following her stunning loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
The promotional footage for UFC 207 was posted December 7th on TMZ’s website, and focuses on the previously dominant ex-champ’s bout with Amanda Nunes on December 30th in Las Vegas.
The video begins with a reference to her only defeat inside the octagon in Sydney, Australia last year. Aged and torn promotional posters for her devastating defeat at the hands (and feet) of “The Preacher’s Daughter” adorn walls. UFC Tonight pundits (including Tyron Woodley) discuss her prior dominance of her division in brief, as the Rocky-esque promo gathers pace.
From here, Rousey enters the frame in footage shot from inside her home in California. The video then progresses to the gym where the bantamweight contender carries out padwork drills with coach Edmond Tarverdyan, as a Dana White voice over announces her return.
The video is very much of the narrative that Rousey will be looking to “silence critics” when she takes on Nunes, who was arguably the catalyst for Miesha Tate’s unexpected retirement following UFC 205 last month.
