‘I Was Already Two-Weight Champion, B*tch’. Nick Diaz Takes Aim At Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor’s incredible performance at UFC 205 against Eddie Alvarez has left the majority of the MMA world singing his praises. That is, with the exception of the Diaz brothers, Nick and Nate.

The bad blood between the double champion and the Diaz brothers has been well documented in 2016. Two fights with Nate at UFC 196 and UFC 202, endless online taunting and the infamous bottle throwing shenanigans at the UFC 202 press conference have all combined to make it a year that saw Nate return to the top tier of MMA’s premier promotion, if for no other reason than his association with the Irishman.

Now, with McGregor having moved on to bigger and better things, the elder Diaz brother has taken to Snapchat to slam the featherweight and lightweight champion.

Reported by TMZ Sport, Diaz called McGregor a ‘bitch’ and stated he himself has already been a two-weight champion. Based on the short video, it is clear that Nick Diaz is a man who is incredulous of the Irishman’s achievements last week.

The veracity of Diaz’s two-weight claim is questionable, however. While he has previously held the welterweight title in both the IFC and StrikeForce promotions, it is unclear whether he was champion at another weight.

Diaz is currently retired from MMA and is serving a suspension for unpaid outstanding fines to the Nevada Athletic Commission, however he appears to be making a concerted effort to keep the name of his brother, Nick, in the spotlight.

UFC 202: Diaz v McGregor 2

Having already faced off twice in the octagon, many feel a trilogy fight with Nate is a strong possibility for McGregor. With a 1-1 record, a third seems like a logical step to take. That and the obvious bad blood between the two fighters.

Having only rebuffed derogatory comments from Floyd Mayweather this week, McGregor has not yet responded to Diaz. However, if he does, the expectation will be that it won’t be pleasant.
