Watch: Why Nate & Nick Diaz Never Get Knocked Out

The Diaz brothers are renowned for having two of the strongest chins in the world of MMA. As a result, one scientific YouTuber has decided to try and explain how.

Speaking about Nate’s freakish ability to take a punch, Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh recently told The MMA Hour that there was a moment during their UFC 202 fight that he found terrifying.

“Who else can walk through shots like Nate can? There was a very different shot from this fight to the previous fight. In the previous fight, Conor was going forward a lot and Nate was retreating, and Conor’s best shot – that left hand – was hitting Nate on the move. Nate was moving with it.

“But this one was the perfect shot. We drew Nate in with the leg kicks and as he moved forward, Conor hit him. So you’ve got two forces there – Nate coming forward and Conor’s shot coming forward. You can’t get a heavier shot than that.

“And what does Nate do? Puts his hands out [wide] and walks forward. I’m not going to lie, I was slightly terrified.”

In his entire MMA career, despite having 11 losses to his name, Nate Diaz has only ever been stopped by strikes once and on that occasion, he took a vicious kick to the head and still, he was only rocked rather than knocked unconscious.

Similarly, Nick has also only ever lost one fight via TKO when he was finished by Jeremy Jackson very early in his career. Such is the extraordinary durability of the Diaz brothers that they have both often been referred to as ‘zombies’.
