Watch: When Nate Diaz Last Fought For The Lightweight Title & Got Beaten To A Pulp

Should Nate Diaz face Conor McGregor with the lightweight title on the line, it won’t be his first time competing for the 155 lbs crown…

In recent days, both Owen Roddy and John Kavanagh have openly stated that they would like Conor McGregor to settle his score with Nate Diaz in his next fight.

The trilogy bout has been a topic of conversation for over a year now with McGregor openly stating that he wants to have a third fight with the younger Diaz brother on several occasions.

Should the bout finally occur, it is likely that the lightweight title will be on the line with the Dubliner clearly stating that, unlike the first two encounters that took place at 170 lbs, the trilogy will occur at 155 lbs.

Should that be the case, it won’t be the first time that Nate has fought for the lightweight belt as, fighting in December of 2012 at UFC on Fox 5, the Stockton Brawler faced Benson Henderson in the main event with the title on the line.

On that occasion, things couldn’t have gone much worse for the 32-year-old as Henderson absolutely battered him over the course of a five round contest eventually winning via unanimous decision.

Check out the highlights from that very one sided bout below.
