Last weekend, Max Holloway & Jose Aldo met for the second time at UFC 218 with the Hawaiin once again triumphing in the third round.
In this day and age, trash talk and hostility has become the go-to pre-fight ritual for most combatants preparing for battle in the UFC.
However, for Max Holloway and Jose Aldo, modern tendencies were strewn to the side in the build-up to both their recent bouts as the pair paid each other an enormous amount of respect.
After both victories over Aldo, Max Holloway has hailed the former pound for pound number one as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time and, after his victory in Detroit on Saturday night, the Hawaiin took some time to embrace the Brazilian with the pair sharing an emotional moment together in the Octagon.
Having been undefeated for over a decade prior to his loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 194, Aldo never really acknowledged that defeat as anything other than a lucky punch. However, it is clear that the Brazilian sees Max Holloway in another light and is happy to see his status as the greatest featherweight on the planet passed on to the Hawaiin youngster.
