Joe Rogan loves Conor McGregor and there is one man in particular that he really wants to see the Irishman taking on.
Having fought Nate Diaz on two occasions, McGregor developed a serious rivalry with the entire Diaz camp, culminating in the infamous bottle throwing incident that broke out in the days leading up to their classic rematch at UFC 202.
Such was the ferocious nature of McGregor vs Diaz II that it was only this week named in the UFC’s top ten greatest events of all time. As a result, many pundits and fans have since pondered about the possibility of Nate and Conor squaring off for a third time. However, for Joe Rogan, a far more interesting Diaz fight could be on the horizon for McGregor.
Speaking in the immediate aftermath of UFC 202, Rogan stated that he would love to see the featherweight champion taking on Nick Diaz in the near future. Despite the fact that it was shortly confirmed thereafter that McGregor would in fact face Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title at UFC 205, over the weekend, Rogan again stated that he had heard rumours of a potential Nick vs Conor mega-fight potentially being lined up.
‘Man, I had heard some crazy rumour that I had hoped was true, that they were gonna try and set up Nick vs Conor. I’m like, ‘my god, that would break the world.’
Do you know like, how insane the hype would be, for a Nick Diaz vs Conor McGregor fight? I mean, can you even imagine??’
For the record, Nick has in actual fact never made 155 and his last fight was at a whopping 185 lbs. For Conor to even consider taking on a man who is that much bigger than him would surely be madness but, well, Joe Rogan gets beyond giddy even thinking about it so, perhaps it’s not totally beyond the realms of possibility.
