Speaking on his MMA podcast, Joe Rogan discussed Conor McGregor’s unprecedented pay-per-view interview and the game changing significance of his newly launched, ‘McGregor Promotions’.
Speaking at the Manchester event, McGregor opened up on a range of issues including his proposed boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, his big post UFC 205 announcement, and the upcoming birth of his child.
However, one of the most interesting moments came when the Irishman announced that he had founded his own promotional company, ‘McGregor Promotions,’ and that he would be looking to co-promote the Mayweather fight with the UFC and the boxer’s company.
Speaking about getting the fight booked, McGregor stated that ‘everyone’s got to know their place,’ essentially suggesting that neither the UFC nor Mayweather Promotions could dominate negotiations.
“Everyone’s got to know their place,” McGregor said. “There’s Mayweather Promotions, there’s the UFC and now there’s the newly formed McGregor Promotions. And we’re all in the mix.”
Discussing the incredible interview, Joe Rogan discussed the significance of McGregor’s latest announcement and how the sport of MMA is eventually going to evolve to a point wherein it will become ‘what boxing is’.
It’s going to become what boxing is. It’s going to become that. It’s star driven…
And when it’s star driven like that, guys like Conor who are legitimate stars, they have the leverage. And they’re going to manipulate that leverage. They’re going to utilise that leverage and we’re going to see what happens.
