Some extraordinary footage from the moments that followed Conor McGregor’s UFC 196 loss to Nate Diaz has just turned up online…
Having KO’d Jose Aldo in 13 seconds in December of 2015, Conor McGregor arrived for UFC 196 with 15 straight wins behind him. He wasn’t just a fighter in form, he had an air of invincibility.
However, after dominating the first round vs Nate Diaz, the Irishman seemed to drastically tire in the second and, after a straight left landed cleanly on his jaw, McGregor was staggered and a minute later, he found himself lying on the canvas with his first UFC loss in the books.
After the fight, McGregor was universally commended for how he handled the defeat with the Dubliner making no excuses for his performance and simply stating that he would learn and come back.
Now, new footage has emerged from McGregor’s changing room moments after the fight with the ‘Notorious’ one attempting to wrap his mind around what exactly had gone wrong.
‘I was slipping and banging that left hand. Then like a load of times it came short as well. At one stage I caught him with a clean uppercut but he was just always there in me face.
I p*ssied out I did. I p*ssied out of my breath… It is what it is, ya win some ya lose some… he can take a few smacks he can the c**t.’
