Watch: Heartbreaking Footage Of Rumble Johnson Apologising To His Coach After UFC 210 Emerges

This is genuinely tough to watch…

Heading into UFC 210, many felt that Daniel Cormier would find it difficult to survive against the ferocious striking ability of Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.

Having lost to the light heavyweight champion back in May of 2015, Rumble had gone on to win his three subsequent fights in emphatic fashion knocking out Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira all inside two rounds.

Johnson had garnered a reputation as the most dangerous knock out artist on the roster and, heading into his main event clash with Daniel Cormier at UFC 210, many felt that he would finish the champion via KO if he simply maintained distance and utilised his striking.

However, with his coaches roaring at him to do the opposite, Johnson repeatedly (and rather bizarrely) elected to wrestle with Cormier and, similar to their first encounter at UFC 187, Rumble was eventually submitted via rear naked choke.

Speaking after the bout, Johnson struggled to hold back the tears as he announced that he would be retiring from the sport and now, some heartbreaking footage of the 33-year-old backstage has emerged.

Speaking with his coach, Henri Hooft, Johnson repeatedly apologises for the mistakes he made in the bout as the emotion of both the event and the culmination of his MMA career finally get the better of him.

Check out the heartbreaking moment in full below.
