Gunnar Nelson is an intense individual.
The Icelandic fighter, who splits his time between Dublin’s Straight Blast Gym and Mjölnir MMA in Reykjavik, had spent some time helping good friend Conor McGregor prepare for his upcoming super-fight with Rafael dos Anjos over the last couple of weeks, a fact evidenced by several posts from the social media accounts of both fighters.

It seems that Gunni has returned home in recent days, however, as his father tweeted a clip of the stoic welterweight training at Mjölnir on Wednesday.
Judging from the footage, it’s unlikely that his sparring partners were happy to see him back. McGregor fans on the other hand, might be glad to know that he is no longer ‘assisting’ their man in his preparation.
Nelson, who is coming off a loss to grappling wizard Demian Maia at UFC 194, is shown laying in hard kicks and vicious punches to the body, before he badly rocks one of his sparring partners with a peach of a right-hand.
