As Bruce Buffer announced that Germaine De Randamie had won the women’s featherweight title at UFC 208, the crowd did not seem to keen to congratulate the Dutchwoman.
Germaine De Randamie took on Holly Holm in the main event at UFC 208 with ‘The Iron Lady’ winning the fight via unanimous decision. However, it was surely a bitter sweet moment for the 32-year-old as boos filled the arena as she was named the inaugural women’s 145 lbs champion.
The criticism came as a result of two late punches that De Randamie landed on Holly Holm at the end of the second and third rounds with the ref refusing to deduct a point for either offence. The punch that landed after the buzzer in the second was particularly strong with Holly Holm seeming to have been seriously rocked by the illegal blow.

Although the ref let De Randamie off with nothing more than a warning, it seems that the illegal strikes did carry some cost for the new champion as fans consistently jeered the Dutchwoman after her victory was announced.
Even during her post fight interview, the 32-year-old had difficulty speaking over a crowd in uproar with one fan even shouting abuse at ‘The Iron Lady’ while she attempted to answer Joe Rogan’s questions.
