Watch: Floyd Mayweather Says McGregor Fight Is Still Possible After UFC 205 Presser

In the midst of the madness that was the UFC 205 press conference, one rather intriguing Conor McGregor comment flew relatively under the radar.

After the ‘Notorious’ Irishman was pulled from the UFC 200 card for failing to fulfill his media obligations, rumours began to gather pace that McGregor was in negotiations to take on Floyd Mayweather Jnr. in a boxing match.

Although the stories were initially scoffed at, they became much more than that as both men involved frequently stated that they were interested in facing off. Floyd himself even stated that he ‘absolutely’ believed that the fight would happen.

Talk of a McGregor/Mayweather super-fight has died down somewhat since as attention has turned to the featherweight champion’s exploits inside the Octagon. However, speaking at the UFC 205 press conference on Tuesday night, Conor once again name-dropped the undefeated boxer.

‘I’m looking around, I don’t know what anyone else has for me around here. I might have to jump up, drag Floyd Mayweather out of bed and see what he’s at again.’

Speaking to TMZ Sports on Wednesday afternoon, Mayweather was quizzed on McGregor’s comments and, although he had recently suggested that the story was dead, on this occasion, he once again stated that the fight was still very possible.

“Are we going to fight? I just don’t know.”

Mayweather went on to praise the Irishman’s abilities as a fighter and also mentioned that, although he was enjoying retirement, if the price was right, he would be ready and willing to go.

“Ya man, I’m loving retirement but you know, for a couple more bucks, you just don’t know.”
