Despite a resounding defeat to Conor McGregor at UFC 205, in the days since, Eddie Alvarez has gained far more fans than he has lost.
In defeat, the Philly fighter maintained an air of grace and dignity that is rarely seen in the world of combat sports. Since Saturday night, Alvarez has congratulated McGregor on several occasions while he has also openly and honestly picked apart his own performance.
Releasing a statement via his official Instagram account yesterday, Alvarez slated his showing at Madison Square Garden but also declared that he plans to grow from the fight and that he will look forward to ‘making the walk’ again.
I have never defined myself off one win and I’ll never define myself off one loss, I simply had a bad night. I’ll have the opportunity again to have a good one ,, and I’ll make the walk to see what I got everytime.
In the aftermath of UFC 202, Conor McGregor’s striking coach, Owen Roddy, released an incredible behind the scenes video that made serious waves online. After UFC 205, Roddy has again released some extraordinary footage with a phenomenal 14 minute clip that contains a number of enthralling moments.
Including McGregor’s pre-fight conversation with Big John McCarthy, a spine-tingling walkout and some intriguing moments after the fight, this one is really not to be missed. However, perhaps the most intriguing moment comes in the moments immediately after McGregor’s TKO victory.
Despite the fact that he has just been obliterated in the biggest fight of his career, Alvarez is seen approaching Conor’s corner to congratulate and shake hands with his entire team.
