With the wealth of options that Conor McGregor has for his next opponent, a super-fight between he and reigning lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is far from a certainty, but fans mouth’s are already beginning to water.
McGregor spoke extensively about moving up to 155lbs and invading the title picture following his 13-second demolition of Jose Aldo at UFC 194, but he was also careful to intermittently temper expectations.
Conor never dismissed featherweight contender Frankie Edgar outright, and told the media that he would await the result of the dos Anjos vs Donald Cerrone lightweight title fight before making any decision.
The carrot had been dangled, however, and after dos Anjos turned in a sensational performance to dismantle the “Cowboy” in Orlando on Saturday night, the speculative excitement immediately began to bubble.
One fan who was obviously caught up in the early stages of this hype train was Nayith Villavincencio, and the prolific promo producer decided to bring others along for the ride. Before Saturday night was done, he had released his first trailer for the potential champion vs champion clash.
It is certainly premature, but it’s a cracking effort.
