Watch: Conor McGregor Predicted He’d Fight Khabib For The Lightweight Title Back In 2015

Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov now looks like the dream comeback fight for the UFC’s lightweight champion…

After an extraordinarily dominant performance against Edson Barboza at UFC 219, Khabib Nurmagomedov has been widely lauded as the best 155 lbs mixed martial artist on the planet – even if he doesn’t have a belt that says so.

However, one man that wasn’t one bit impressed with the Russian’s performance was the UFC’s current lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.

After McGregor essentially stated that Khabib’s game was full of holes and the Russian would be ‘slept’ if the pair ever met inside the Octagon, fans have gone into overdrive wondering if a fight between the pair could be made in the coming months.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov have previously been involved in heated exchanges with an incident backstage at UFC 205 still proving hard to forget.

However, in light of the events that have transpired in recent days, an official UFC account has pointed out that the ‘Notorious’ himself imagined himself taking on ‘The Eagle’ with the lightweight title on the line back in 2015.

Given the fact that he currently holds the interim lightweight title, Tony Ferguson will certainly have a say before any McGregor comeback is booked. However, given the star power of both Khabib and ‘The Notorious’, it now seems like it is simply a matter of time before we see the pair standing across from one another inside the Octagon.
