Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz are unanimously considered the best of enemies. However, the pair have shared moments where respect was mutually evident.
After both fights at UFC 196 and UFC 202, both McGregor and Diaz were quick to embrace and to show each other some form of appreciation for what they had just been through.
However, outside of those fleeting moments, respect between the pair has been close to non-existent with both the Irishman and the Stockton brawler taking turns at laying into the other man’s character. Having said that, there was one rather bizarre moment of unity between them in the days leading up to their rematch at UFC 202.
Speaking on a media call to promote the event, Nate was asked a rather strange question, as a journalist suggested that McGregor had tapped quickly during their initial contest at UFC 196.
Nate, let me ask you, when you got Conor down and he tapped, were you surprised by how quick that went?
In actual fact, Nate’s rear-naked choke was so cleanly locked in during the second round of their first contest that McGregor had no choice but to tap – a point that both the SBG man and the younger Diaz brother were in agreement on and quick to point out to the reporter.
Check out the rare moment of unity between the pair as they turn on the unfortunate journalist during the UFC 202 media call below;
