This weekend will see a bunch of fantastic match-ups in the UFC, however, there is one chin that rises above them all.
From the clash of the titans in the Heavyweight Division between Stipe Miocic and Junior Dos Santos to classic striker versus grappler match-ups in both the Strawweight title bout between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade and Welterweights Demian Maia versus Jorge Masvidal.
But the fight that may well wind up being the most compelling also has a classic storyline to it: that of the young up-and-comer against the grizzled veteran.
Frankie Edgar is the veteran in this situation while the flamboyant Yair Rodriguez is the prospect who has surged up the rankings in his short time with the company.
If the Mexican kickboxer is to add another spectacular highlight to his career reel though, he will have to do something which has never been done in the octagon before and that is finish New Jersey’s Edgar.
Despite having racked up 27 fights over his storied career, he has only lost five times with each of them being by decision.
The following video demonstrates why this has never happened. Whether in the face of submission attempts or actual fists to the face, Edgar is extremely durable.
Of the five fights featured in this video, all of which he seems on the verge of defeat in, it is worth noting that he came back to win three of them.
A chin of steel that will no doubt be tested against Yair Rodriguez this weekend.
