Undefeated Bellator MMA featherweight prospect A.J. McKee moved to 8-0 last night at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, as he scored a brutally emphatic win over Dominic Mazzotta.

McKee finished Mazzotta just 75 seconds into the first round, wiping him out with a savage head-kick. The strike was actually partially blocked by Mazzotta but even the defensive properties of a Kevlar helmet probably wouldn’t have kept the 29-year-old Pennsylvania native conscious in this instance.

This was a really impressive victory from McKee, as Mazzotta is the best fighter that the 22-year-old has faced thus far. Coming into the bout, Mazzotta had won nine straight. His only defeat in 13 fights had come via TKO to Cody Garbrandt back in March of 2014.

After the fight, McKee took the opportunity to continue stirring up interest in a seemingly inevitable showdown between he and another unbeaten young Bellator MMA featherweight, James Gallagher.

“My fans in Ireland and my biggest fan, James Gallagher,” McKee said during his shout-outs, before adding “how you doing, baby girl?(via Ariel Helwani)”

McKee and Gallagher have been involved in a war of words for a number of months now, with things really becoming intense after the Irishman’s win over McKee’s teammate Anthony Taylor in Dublin last December. After his victory over Kirill Medvedovsky at Bellator 173 in February, Gallagher called for a bout with Taylor on Bellator’s May card in London.

However, Gallagher has since been added to Bellator 180, which takes place on June 24th at Madison Square Garden in New York. In the hallowed and world-renowned arena, ‘The Strabanimal’ will face the toughest test of his career thus far against Brazil’s Chinzo Machida.

Should the 20-year-old SBG Ireland representative come through that, a bout with McKee would certainly make sense. But shortly after responding to McKee’s little shot at him, Gallagher said that he has his eye on an ever bigger fight, with Bellator featherweight champion Patricio Freire.

Fuck AJ!! I want @patriciopitbull after I chin chinzo in New York. #worldtitles #thatswhatimabout

Freire was actually crowned Bellator’s 145-pound king last night at Bellator 178, as he submitted Daniel Straus in the second round. Freire’s previous reign as champion had been brought to an end by Straus in November of 2015. A 13-year veteran with 30 fights, with 26 wins and 20 finishes to his name, Freire might be too much for either McKee or Gallagher at this point.

MMA fans in the U.K and Ireland can catch Bellator 178 tonight at 10 p.m. on Spike.
