The agony of that…
Jake Ellenberger entered his bout with the “Immortal” Matt Brown as a +250 underdog. To you and I, that is 5/2 outsider in a two-horse race.
But, if there was ever a sport in which anything can happen, it’s MMA.
Within three seconds, Ellenberger unveiled a rocking overhand right and Brown thumped off the canvas. The Juggernaut directly emptied his gas tank at the 20-14 welterweight. However, Brown survived and managed to find his way back onto his feet.
Nevertheless, the fight did not remain standing for long. Ellenberger threw a picture perfect and vicious liver kick. It snuck in beneath the elbow of the immortal one, crumpling his body on impact. There is a special stigma involved with an excruciating and precise liver kick and this one incapacitated Brown and his ability to defend himself.
It marks a highlight victory for Ellenberger, whom was in danger of losing his place within the company after losing five of his past six bouts in the Octagon. In fact, Jake had to plead with Dana White for one more chance to remain on the roster.
One would imagine White, Joe Silva and Sean Shelby will rethink any such thoughts after this dominating performance.
