Luke Rockhold isn’t enamoured with the most recent antics of Ireland’s Conor McGregor.
UFC 194 has been molded into one of the greatest fight cards in the history of MMA. Not only is the show topped by the long awaited clash between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo, but it also features a whole host of other quality match-ups.
The most high profile of these bouts is, of course, Chris Weidman’s middleweight title defence against Luke Rockhold.
Rockhold, however, doesn’t seem to be enthusiastic about sharing a card with “The Notorious”. In a recent Fox Sports interview alongside Urijah Faber and UFC president, Dana White, the California native criticized the Irishman’s verbal hijacking of the now infamous Go Big press conference. He also added a request for Dana. “Just don’t let me do too much press with him coming up to this fight”.
In another interview, this time with TMZ Sports, Rockhold took his attack on McGregor that little bit further….
It seems as though Conor has expanded his list of enemies to include fighters outside of his own featherweight hunting ground , and his eventual home – lightweight. His verbose and antagonistic antics have drawn the ire of athletes from all over the roster. Of course, McGregor would likely suggest that these fighters are simply trying to borrow from his name value by talking about him constantly.
Regardless of their reasons, these fighters should keep in mind that the aforementioned Go Big event was a hype building vehicle, and McGregor did his job better than anyone. A week later and his performance continues to generate chatter.
Chances are it will generate plenty of Pay-per-view revenue as well.
