With all but one fight at UFC 208 going to a decision, one can forgive UFC president Dana White for being a little less than enamoured with how the night panned out.
Only one bout, the meeting of Ronaldo Souza and Tim Boetsch, saw a submission victory, with Souza coming out victorious. This is “Jacaré’s” second win on the trot now having beaten Vitor Belfort via TKO back in May of last year.
The other item of note on what was ultimately a flop of a night for the UFC was the crowning of the first ever women’s featherweight champion, as Germaine de Randamie overcame Holly Holm via a unanimous decision win.
Despite a couple of highlights here and there, the face of the UFC, White, was clearly displeased with how the night went, citing issues with the referee, in particular for the main event.
While his comment below that his highlight of the night was “the plane ride home” may be said in jest, it still signifies the overall sense of disappointment which has exuded following the company’s second ever pay-per-view event in New York.
With March 4’s UFC 209 now very much on the horizon, White and co. will hope for a little more entertainment as focus turns to Woodley vs Thompson 2 in Nevada next month.
