Much has been reported and hyped about UFC196 and you could almost feel sorry for Holly Holm, who defends her title against Meisha Tate in the nights co-main event. There is however really only one show in town, Conor McGregor.
The golden boy of MMA is the UFC’s biggest draw, raking in huge pay-per-view figures since he burst onto the roster three years ago. The UFC has invested heavily in the Irishman as they recognised early on that he would be a huge draw. Brash and a gifted wordsmith, McGregor is known for his memorable one liners. Coupled with his fighting abilitied, he has been pure gold to Dana White.
Such has been the rise of McGregor and his worth to the UFC, the man from Crumlin looks set to breaks more records before he even throws a punch. Tonight’s fight will see McGregor earn a cool $1million just for turning up.

Add to this the pay-per-view cut he will get and it looks like he may top the estimated $8million he earned for his 13 second destruction of Jose Aldo at UFC194.
While tonights bout at welterweight is unknown territory for McGregor and the UFC, the Dubliner is still favourite to defeat Diaz. Given the physical appearance of McGregor at last nights weigh in, it is vlear that 168lb suits him and the whole world waits to see how he performs as a larger, stronger fighter.
It is clear that the UFC values their prized asset and will be anticipating a victory for McGregor as a rescheduling of the Rafael dos Anjos title fight will surely bring in record pay-per-view figures and earn all involved a staggering amount of money.
So the talking is over and the stage is set. Time to raise the curtain on the biggest show in town.
