Watch: UFC Release Spine Tingling Extended UFC 206 Promo for Holloway – Pettis Clash

UFC 206 is only a matter of days away and despite the hastily rescheduled headline event of Max Holloway verses Anthony Pettis, anticipation is ramping up fast.

The next installment of the UFC’s marquee promotion was overshadowed by the cancellation of the main event less than two weeks ago, when Daniel Cormier withdrew from his second title defence, this time against Anthony Johnson.

In their haste to find an eye-catching alternative headliner, UFC bosses stripped Conor McGregor of his featherweight title belt and announced the Holloway – Pettis clash as an interim title bout. The then current interim title holder, Jose Aldo, was promoted to undisputed champion.

Leaving the controversies of that decision behind, the UFC has now released it’s UFC 206 : Countdown feature, this time a behind the scenes look at both Holloway and Pettis as they prepare to go to war in Toronto on Saturday night.

Holloway is on a nine fight winning streak and his record has been a highlight reel of precision striking and blistering combinations. Since his defeat to Conor McGregor at UFC Fight Night 26 back in 2013, the Hawaiian has been on an unstoppable march to the top of the featherweight rankings.

All that stands in his way of Jose Aldo and a shot at the title is the former lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis.

Pettis, stormed to lightweight gold with a phenomenal series of submissions and devastating KOs from his right foot. Following two successful defences, Pettis lost his title to Rafael do Anjos, before two further defeats at 155lb saw the American drop back to featherweight.

Since then the 29-year-old has been on a quest for two-weight glory and has put the division on notice following a storming victory over Charles Oliveira in August.

His interim title shot comes far quicker than that of Holloway but with the division exhausted of competition following Conor McGregor’s rampage through the ranks last year, there is simply nobody else there who might compete with the reinstated Jose Aldo.

Now, as the days wind down to the epic encounter between Holloway and Pettis, it’s time to sit back and relax as the UFC presents an enthralling behind the scenes look at those who would dethrone Aldo for a second time.
