UFC Fighters Brawl Amongst The Crowd At World Series Of Fighting Event

Though UFC 190 took place in Rio de Janeiro a number of UFC contracted fighters were also in action in Las Vegas last night, only they were fighting for free.

The World Series of Fighting hosted a card headlined by a welterweight clash between Rousimar Palhares and Jake Shields, but fans in attendance were also treated to a bonus fight.

During the introductions for the main event there was an altercation between Nate Diaz and bear wrestling Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov. The pair have been involved in an ongoing twitter feud in recent months and once they were in close proximity to each other it quickly got physical. The situation escalated to the point where Diaz’ brother, Nick, and his teammate Martin Sano became involved, as did members of Nurmagomedov’s entourage.

The incident didn’t end there. As the crowds moved out of the arena and into the lobby of the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino, the Diaz brothers, still thirsty for battle, engaged in a more full-on fight with members of Nurmagomedov’s team.

Eventually, members of security were able to apprehend Nate Diaz and escort him from the building. It was quite an achievement for the security staff. It isn’t often you have to break up a riot featuring multiple professional MMA fighters.

This is the latest in a long list of ugly incidents which have involved the volatile Diaz brothers. The natives of Stockton, California, have on a number of previous occasions in the past become involved in brawls outside of the confines of the cage.

Nick was also one of the key figures involved in this fracas, at a Strikeforce event in 2010.

It will be interesting to see how Dana White reacts to UFC fighters causing such a scene at a rival’s show.
