In case you missed it, the UFC is coming back to Dublin on July 19th for ‘UFC Fight Night 46: McGregor vs Brandao’. Let’s be honest though, no one has missed it.
The tickets for this event have been hotly sought after, selling out in less than three minutes, with Irish fans desperate for the UFC to return for the first time since 2009.
The fight card is littered with an abundance of Irish talent and there has been another big name added to the list. Ireland’s Cathal Pendred will face fellow ‘TUF 19’ cast mate Mike King in a middleweight bout.
Both men will be looking to put on a show after uneventful performances during their time in the ‘TUF’ house, which is great news for us fight fans.
They also share something in common, they were both defeated by Eddie Gordon in this seasons ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. In the latest episode, Pendred was eliminated by Eddie Gordon via split decision in their semi-final matchup. It was a close but dull fight that could have gone either way.
King also lost to Gordon in a close and again dull contest. It should be noted that ‘TUF’ by nature is a gruelling experience which takes the fighters away from their usual surroundings and fight preparations. So expect a better Cathal Pendred by the time July 19th rolls around.
Also on this card we will see the return of Neil Seery, Norman Parke and Conor McGregor, who will headline the event. If you didn’t manage to get your hands on a ticket in the scramble, there is no need to panic. The event will be broadcast live on 3e so there is no excuse to miss out.
