Watch: DC Tries To Bring A Little ‘GGG’ Out Of Khabib In UFC 219 Embedded Ep.1

The first episode of UFC 219 Embedded has landed.

We are just a few days away from the final event on the UFC’s 2017 calendar. Over the weekend, the show lost one of it’s most intriguing scraps, a bantamweight bout between Jimmie Rivera and John Lineker, but it still has plenty to offer – with Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino defending the UFC women’s featherweight title against Holly Holm, lightweight killer Khabib Nurmagomedov returning to the octagon for the first time since November of 2016 to face explosive striker Edson Barboza, red-hot women’s strawweight prospect Cynthia Calvillo taking on former champion Carla Esparza, and former welterweight title challenger Carlos Condit battling Neil Magny.

While Cyborg and Holm are the headliners, there will be a great deal of attention on Nurmagomedov in the coming days and fans will be watching Embedded closely to see how the Russian grappling ace is handling his descent towards 155lbs.

Nurmagomedov, who was forced to withdraw from a scheduled interim lightweight title fight with Tony Ferguson earlier this year after being hospitalized due to issues with his weight-cut, looked relaxed in the opening episode of the vlog series. ‘The Eagle’ was shown joking around with teammate and UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who was trying to bring a little ‘GGG’ out of Nurmagomedov.

Middleweight boxer Gennady Gennadyovich Golovkin, or ‘GGG’, is primarily known for his fearsome punching power, but the Kazakh’s amiable personality and funny post-fight interviews have also garnered him attention. Golovkin, whose English is still a work in progress, has developed something of a catchphrase, routinely promising fans a “big drama show.”

“Hey! Say, ‘I like my fight big drama show,'” Cormier suggested to Dagestan native Nurmagomedov, who initially complied without really knowing what was going on. “Please! Please talk like Golovkin,” Cormier added after his teammate walked away chuckling.

Hopefully Nurmagomedov leaves the big drama show for Saturday night inside the octagon and there is no drama whatsoever at the weigh-in on Friday.
