UFC 213 Main Event Looks To Have Fallen Apart As Promotion Searches For New Headliners

UFC 213 was initially supposed to be one of the promotion’s biggest events of the year with the occasion set to take place during the 6th annual international fight week.

However, with the company apparently unable to find a blockbuster main event to headline the card, the initially scheduled co-main event between Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw was bumped up into the headline spot.

However, when recent reports suggested that the bantamweight champion had flown to Germany for back surgery, fans began to fear that the bout would be cancelled.

Now it appears as if those fears will indeed become a reality as Ariel Helwani has just reported that it looks very unlikely that the fight will actually go ahead on July 8th.

The UFC 213 card is already quite stacked with several intriguing match-ups and big names due to feature at the Las Vegas event. However, the card is most certainly lacking a blockbuster fight that would be suitable in the top spot and now, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani has also reported that the promotion is desperately trying to put together a new main event.

With no official word on the Garbrandt vs Dillashaw bout as of yet, the UFC 213 card (as it stands) can be seen in full below. However, with Helwani very rarely wrong in matters such as these, it seems as if it is now only a matter of time before the main event is officially cancelled.
